Welcome to all students for 2010. Special thanks for coming along to Orientation Day. Good to meet you and get to chat a little. I am very excited to get the ball rolling on Monday, hope you are too.

Please browse thru this site to get an overview of previous projects and student life.

Please note that the site is not updated to 2010, this process will take place during the semester.

If you did not get a copy of your unit guide you can download it from here

MUST SEE SITE

Marc Synder

take the time to browse thru the Fiji Island Mermaid Press site

http://www.fimp.net

Remember - we are looking at these sites to reference and begin research for conceptual and technical purposes. Do you know what a lino print cut is? - Do you know how it is made? What are some of the concepts that Marc and other artists from this group are dealing with?

|Important Notes|

The units are run in a combined studio setting. As such, some of the data on this site are for general information only, specific details, such as workshop, contract and exhibition requirements will be given in tutorial settings and as addendums to the course guide during the semester. This site is to be updated with student input as the semester develops.

Artists are in contact with a large range of materials and chemicals that could be hazardous. General safety is instructed but students should make it their practice to understand relative toxicity of the materials they are handling and relative precautions.
Where possible students are encouraged to approach art with a non-toxic attitude, however some chemicals will be used, you can check the internet for a vast range of information - a good site for chemical data can be found at the following link
